Johnson Public Library
The library re-opens for hold pickups today!
Our temporary hours are:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm
Tuesday, Thursday 12pm-8pm
· Hackensack residents may place holds via phone, in person or online.
· Will be notified by your preferred method when the items are ready for pick up.
· Only the circulation desk is open (no seating, computers, public restrooms, etc). We have everything marked for social distancing, will enforce face coverings and have plexiglass barriers around the service desks.
We hope to be able to open up more services soon, including folks emailing us print jobs and picking them up when they are ready, in-person reference and browsing.
Library Champions are patrons who love their libraries and want to be in the know about issues that may affect them. When important library issues arise, Library Champions are notified so they can then take appropriate action such as phone calls, emails to legislators or simply talking up the library to their neighbors.
Please join in this effort.

The suite also includes Informe, our Spanish language full-text database. If you have Internet access you can search for high quality Internet age information 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Love Books? Johnson Public Library Has a Whole Lot More...
While books and other physical goodies are what most people think of when asked what they can borrow at their public library, in recent years the Johnson Public Library has branched out to connect Hackensack's citizens with a myriad of other options. As always, all one needs is a library card.
JPL and the 73 other libraries in the Bergen County Cooperative Library System can borrow eBooks for their computers, nooks, kindles, iPads, and various other devices. Through eBCCLS and the overdrive app, a leading ebook vendor, library patrons can log on at all hours from home and browse, borrow, place requests, and of course, read popular and bestselling ebooks.
You might stumble on a "3M cloud library ebook" in the regular catalog. That's another way to get your hands on ebooks! This growing collection is embedded right in the traditional book catalog. If you see one you want, just click on "Check It Out". You can then read the ebook on Mac/PC apps, as well as on your mobile devices.
Looking for more esoteric titles and don't want to wait? JPL has gone one step further with Freading, a portal with thousands of titles available on demand.
If tunes not books, is your calling, JPL has something to offer you as well. Freegal is "free and legal" and available through JPL's website. Enter your library card #, click on "download" and voila! Free and legal music that's yours to keep forever.
As of January 1st, 2014 JPL also subscribes to Zinio, "the world's largest newsstand." Hackensack library card holders can download digital issues of more than 100 of the most popular magazine titles available including Time, Bloomberg Businessweek, Astronomy, Car & Driver, Do It Yourself, Oprah Magazine, Esquire, and loads more. You don't even have to worry about returning anything...keep the issues as long as you like!!
Johnson Public Library’s current mission is to make sure the needs of their 21st century patrons are met above and beyond expectations. They welcome all input and are happy to provide assistance with getting a handle on their digital offerings. All the above services can be found on our website at http://johnsonlib.org/adults/digital/
The Johnson Public Library offers individual assistance, by appointment to Hackensack residents for: downloading, setting up mobile devices, computer skills, resumes, online job search, etc.
Call the Adult Program Coordinator, Barb Schuit, at 201-343-4169, ext. 19 or the director, Sharon Castanteen, ext. 24, for more details about these services.
