Hackensack announces Construction Kickoff Ceremony for Performing Arts Center
Event will mark official beginning of construction on project expected to become cultural landmark
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Mayor John Labrosse, members of the City Council, city officials and leaders in the local business and arts communities will join together on Tuesday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m., to officially kick off construction of the new Hackensack Performing Arts Center. The City Council recently awarded a contract for the renovation of the building and it is scheduled to open in the Spring. Upon its completion, the Performing Arts Center is expected to become a cultural landmark for the city as well as a vital cornerstone of its downtown redevelopment efforts. Construction is being supported by nearly $400,000 in private donations raised by the Hackensack Main Street Business Alliance as well as $2 million in city funding to renovate the existing building.
