Star Wars 40th Anniversary Bash& Fundraiser
The Dept. of Cultural Arts. is having a Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebrationon May 25th.
Hackensack, NJ: The Dept. of Cultural Arts, is having their first Movies Under the Stars feature of the season on May 25th at the Atlantic Street Park. To kick off this summer’s season, the Department chose the blockbusterRogue One: A Star Wars Story, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. The Movies Under the Stars series is completely free, there will be special guest appearances by the 501st Stormtrooper Legion, a costume contest, prizes, and more. The event will also be a fundraiser for the “Tomorrow’s Children Fund.” All proceeds and donations will be given to the fund in an effort to help fight children’s cancer.
This is the fist of four movies in the Movies Under the Stars series that will take place on the last Thursday each month of the summer. The Hackensack Dept. of Cultural Arts chose this film to kick off the summer film series because May 25th is the 40th Anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars movie, now titled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. This will be a celebration of the films impact on pop culture, society, and the science fiction genre.
Artistic Director of the Dept. of Cultural Arts and longtime Star Wars Fanboy, Greg Liosi stated, “Most people celebrate May 4th as “Star Wars Day” but a true fan knows that the real “Star Wars Day” is May 25th because A New Hope was released on May 25, 1977. Star Wars completely changed the world when it released, no one had ever seen a movie quite like it. It completely changed the way the world made movies, and we should honor it accordingly.”
Not only will the newly released Rogue One: A Star Wars Story be shown at the event, but there will be a costume contest, special guest appearances by the 501st Stormtrooper Legion, prizes and much more. The event will also be a fundraiser for the “Tomorrow’s Children Fund” in an effort to help aid the fight against children’s cancer.
