BOE Presenting Renovation Plans Wednesday

HACKENSACK, N.J. — The Hackensack Board of Education will present plans for renovations to multiple city schools at Wednesday night’s Planning Board meeting. The project has a projected total cost of $165 million.

The public is invited to hear this presentation and ask any questions they may have at the conclusion.

The plans call for upgrades to Fairmount Elementary School, Fanny M. Hillers Elementary School, Jackson Avenue Elementary School, Nellie K. Parker Elementary School, Hackensack High School, Hackensack Middle School and Hackensack High School Field House. The elementary schools would all realign from K-4 to Pre-K through second grade. The middle school would realign from grades 5-8 to grades 3-6, while the high school would realign from grades 9-12 to 10-12.

A new 195,000-square-foot building, located adjacent to the high school, would become home to students in grades 7-9 and include classrooms, STEAM and Science labs, gymnasium, auditorium, media center, common areas and a 200-space parking garage.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
