     Experience the legendary story of how the African people ,enslaved in America, created original music that enabled the slaves to secretly communicate with each other, teach their young, record their history and heal their pain. See how this music had an enormous effect on breaking the oppression that gripped our nation. You will learn that from slavery to reconstruction, through the Jim Crow laws to the noble and courageous call for freedom and justice of the Civil Rights Movement, how this inspiring music kept the spirit of this country focused on freedom for all of her people.

Where: The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, 39 Broadway Hackensack, NJ
Tickets: $10.00 for adults. $8.00 for children under 12 and seniors. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Hackensack Recreation Center 116 Holt Street, Hackensack, Monday Through Friday 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
