HACKENSACK PUERTO RICO RELIEF COLLECTION DRIVE THIS SUNDAY
The City of Hackensack and the Latin American Association (LADA) are teaming up to help the people of Puerto Rico by staging a collection drive this Sunday October 8th from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Department of Public Works at 410 Railroad Avenue (near Hackensack Market).
A large shipping container will be at the site and people are encouraged to bring bottled water, canned food items, batteries, flashlights, diapers and baby wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and feminine hygiene products. No other food items or clothing will be accepted.
“We were very pleased when Joe Barreto told us that LADA could provide a shipping container and our administration moved quickly to make this happen,” said Mayor John Labrosse. “Councilman Leo Battaglia really worked hard on this project. We are hoping that a large number of residents come out on Sunday to help us fill this container with essential supplies that our fellow American citizens desperately need.”
“The people of Puerto Rico are facing great hardship because of this terrible disaster,” said Councilman Battaglia. “Even the smallest donations would be a big help because people are really in need down there. It’s time for Hackensack to show that our city has a big heart.”
