The City of Hackensack is announcing it will be hosting multiple holiday events and contests in December. In the interest of public safety during the coronavirus pandemic, the events will be taking place either virtually or be social-distance friendly.
“Although we will celebrate a little differently this year, it is important that we have these events for our children here in Hackensack,” said Mayor John Labrosse. “We want to take this opportunity to wish our residents and their families a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season and look forward to celebrating with everyone in-person next year.”

Virtual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
In the interest of public safety during the COVID19 pandemic, the City of Hackensack will be having a virtual tree lighting ceremony this year. Residents should note that the virtual tree lighting will be pre-recorded, and they should not show up in-person.
The recording will be posted to the city’s website on December 8. Please visit hackensack.org/video to view.
Gingerbread House Contest
The City of Hackensack is hosting its first virtual Gingerbread House competition. Create your masterpiece and enter the competition this holiday season. All participants will be featured on the city’s website at Hackensack.org/gingerbread. Winner’s and prizes will be awarded on December 22 at the city council meeting.
